Many of you will be aware that member Mike Thomson now caddies for Bob McIntyre on the European tour, doing a great job and now in the states for 7 weeks. We wish them well.

Working the fairways

Sitting 43rd in the rankings after a slow start last week has given them confirmation of their exemption to The Players at Sawgrass, I'm sure we'll all be watching and wishing the Scottish duo well.

As you all know I love a stat. With all the chat in the last week about the subscriptions here are a few numbers for your peruse!

Some interesting reading especially when you consider we had no play in April and May of last year!!

For the first 5 weeks of 2021, we have so far had 2028 member rounds which considering the weather hasn't been great during January and the early part of February, as well as playing in twos it makes for challenging times ahead!

Saturday Sweep

Guess what goes in here?

This Saturday will see the first of our non-counting Stablefords, with the recent announcement that all official club competitions have been postponed until May, we will be starting a simple Stableford this coming weekend. Any questions just ask.

Keep the lid closed!

As there is still no access to the clubhouse due to the current restrictions and that we here in the pro shop are only operating as a starter, we have invested in a new scorecard box located at the base of the flagpole. Pay close attention to its location.

Club news

Fore right

You should have recently seen an email from the golf club with reference to the gardens and houses to the right of hole 9.

With an increased number of balls heading right from the tee recently we are asking any golfer that does hit that dreaded slice and cross the boundary to let us know here in the Starters Box/Pro Shop.

Don't panic as no one will be getting into trouble!! The golf club would like to create some data of their own, so should you have to reload from the tee let us know once you have finished your round.

Tee times

As intimated last week we have now released some earlier times each morning with our first time now being 07.32.

The booking system will still be available for you to book until 14.52, however, should you wish to play after 3 pm please just give me a call on (01333) 320051.

With Stewart leaving us as you are all now aware at the end of this week it will be only myself for the foreseeable future and to assist my sanity I will still be closing the "Starters Box" at around 3 pm.

As the nights are becoming lighter by the week I fully appreciate that many of you will now start to look at playing a little later, my only request to assist with the track and trace policy is that you just give me a call and advise what time you would like and if you are playing yourself or if you're being joined by another member as we also require their name.

Should anyone require further explanation of how the tee times after 3 pm work just give me a buzz.

On behalf of Stewart and myself I would like to thank you all for the kind messages wishing him well in his new role, he will be about on Sunday doing a little coaching and he is kindly coming back on the 21st and 29th of March to assist me with some commitments I have scheduled. I'm sure he'll be popping his head in on a regular basis and he won't be far away!
