WEEKEND TEE BOOKING UPDATE Last week’s experiment, booking through HowDidIDo, can’t be said to have gone without a hitch. We are sorry that some members had problems with the system on the day. It did, however, achieve the objective of leaving us with virtually all of the available tee times booked up with four-ball groups at ten-minute intervals. The Match Committee would like to Trial this system, with members’ forbearance, for another week. We hope that familiarity with the system will make the booking experience a little more palatable. In response to the concerns of many, Sundays will revert to the pre-existing club website booking system. The problem of slow play is less pronounced on Sundays and there are traditionally more members guests and visitors on the course. To assist you to familiarise yourself with the system a Test Competition has been set up - you will see it set for 1st March 2021, available for booking on HowDidIDo, so please try it out. You can see the functionality of the thing without the time pressure everyone will have felt on Saturday morning. If you had an issue which you felt was technical last week - please try the test competition and contact us at Match@lundingolfclub.co.uk if the problem persists.
It might also be worth asking a friend to compete for a tee time at the same time, so you can see what your options are if you are beaten to the punch. To remind you - - where you see an available tee time, choose a slot. - if you are first to get to it, you will get a prompt asking you if you want to book other players - choose ‘yes' if you want to put your playing partners in. - if you have been beaten to the slot, you will be told it is unavailable. Frustrating, I know, but you need to try for another available time if this is the case - while you are finding your partners' names and inputting them, the tee time is not available to other members to book. As soon as you press ‘book’ the remaining slots become available to everyone - once you have booked, either singly or as a team, you can’t book again for yourself or any other members - you can only remove your own booking - not your partner’s. Please phone the Pro shop or email Match on Match@lundingolfclub.co.uk to get these names removed - if you want to include a member’s guest or a member without a handicap, you will need to phone the Pro Shop once you have made your booking. He will mark the appropriate slot as Reserved in your tee time. As we reported to you last week, the Match Committee felt that we were compelled to address the slow play and booking issues members were encountering under the existing club website system. This is an interim measure we put in place while we await a new booking system which should be in place by the start of next season, providing much-improved flexibility and ease of use.
We know that this stop-gap is not perfect, but it replaces a system that was also fraught for members when it came to booking. It promises to bring considerable advantage to members if we can get it running more smoothly. If you have any problems on the day that we haven’t anticipated here, please let us know.
