Course Closures
As many of you will be aware, there was a light covering of snow on Sunday, 18 January that kept the golf course closed until Thursday. There were temporary greens on Friday and Saturday, but it was with great joy full greens were back in operation on Sunday. With day light only coming in at around 8am at the moment, on occasions we are unable to give you an accurate course status until nearer 8:15am - especially as in recent weeks frost has come in with day light. Please bear with us over the coming weeks, we want the golf course open as much as you all.
Greenkeeper's News
Stuart was out on the course on Monday doing a little coring to the green surrounds allowing a little air in to help firm them up the for the coming season.

Fraser's Putting Tip of the Month
Having issues with missing 3 foot putts for par or struggling to lag a putt? This may be down to where you are striking the golf ball on the putter face. Off-centre hits effect distance and direction. When you miss the sweet spot, the putter twists. If you strike it out the heel the face will close and point left and if you strike it out the toe the face will open and point right which will send the ball off line. It will also cause inconsistent distance, which can lead to the dreaded three putt bogey!!!!
A good drill that can be used to determine how consistent you are when it comes to striking the sweet spot is by placing two elastic bands (or blue tac) on the putter face either side of the sweet spot and just wider than where the golf ball would sit.
The goal is to strike the golf ball without hitting the elastic bands, you will know if you do it correctly. To make it easier, place the bands further apart and to make it very difficult place the elastic bands closer together allowing only just the golf ball to make contact with the sweetspot. If you have any questions about this drill Fraser will gladly assist so pop in and see him.
