A day away from the shop!
|
| The big man in action!
| Monday saw me head over the water to The Renaissance Club, host venue of last weeks Scottish Open, playing from Sunday's tees to Sunday's pins was without a doubt a challenge. |
| What a view
| I have a new found admiration for these tour players that shoot 62's week in week out!! Some of the fairways were no wider than the pro shop and with par 4's at 485 yards it wasn't easy. |
| Impressive clubhouse
| A truly stunning venue, it was most enjoyable even though extremely tough! I can confirm no birdies were recorded, save to advise no course records were set. |

New arrivals
Some new arrivals at the end of last week, it's always nice to add a little autumn colour and with shirts, sweaters and gilets please pop in for a browse. Not only ideal for the course but suitable for a night out providing the first minister hasn't shut the hospitality industry down! (I'm writing this on Wednesday as we await the afternoon's announcements).

Keep dry this winter
We have a great selection of club crested brollies in store, be prepared for the rain and pop in for a look, double canopy and very robust if not fo you an ideal gift.
|
Crested product
Monday saw the delivery of some Callaway club crested clothing, shirts, sweats and hats so no excuses. I'm going to be a little cautious over the coming months, the usual suspects such as beanies, mitts and snoods are fine, however, should there be something specific you need that we don't have please just ask.

Competition abandoned
Saturday was, unfortunately, a washout, with heavy rain all day come at 2 pm I had no option other than abandoning the competition. With no possible relief available at the 13th and puddles appearing with the sheer mass of water my apologies to the 17 die-hards that made the effort! Keen to keep you updated with my weekly stats. 108 Players 77 Cancelations 1 Late entry (a mad man) 6 No shows

Preferred lies
| It's that time of the year I'm afraid and with Willie keen to start a little fairway work especially after last weeks rain preferred lies are now in operation with immediate effect.
|
Fairway not a carpet
| The surfaces we have here at Lundie are exceptional and it seems a shame to be introducing lift and place however to ensure we have in 2021 what we are so accustomed to having needs must.

I feel that each week I'm continually asking you not to do this or don't do that, but please be assured all our requests are only for your own benefit! I'm sure you'll all appreciate that it has been extremely challenging for everyone and you'll also I'm sure to be aware that as we are seeing in the excess of 100 people each day that our challenges are equally as difficult! Not moving chairs, wearing face masks in both the clubhouse and the pro shop, checking in, not joining other groups whilst on course and not skipping on for a game at hole 9 is only a selection of the guidelines we are asked to implement, these guidelines are not ones set by the golf club but a directive from The Scottish Government and I'm afraid I have to report that there have been several incidents in the last 7 days! From my own perspective, I'm not here to hold your hand and ensure you bring a face covering, but I am tasked with implementing them where I can on behalf of the club, not checking in or having a face covering with you even if you don't require to wear it is not the fault of any member of staff, help us help you!.

Tom Currie re-scheduled
Last weeks Tom Currie has been re-scheduled for the 24th of October in place of The 4 Club, this event will be added later in the year so keep, your eyes peeled! Be sure to get entered with it being our penultimate counting event.

Golf's back on UK soil
When Sergio Garcia won The Masters in 2017, every headline was along the lines of ‘Finally!’. More than three years later, his win at the PGA Tour’s Sanderson Farms Championship marks his first win since and prompted many similar headlines. Although, did you know both victories involved Sergio putting with his eyes shut at impact? On the European Tour, Tommy Fleetwood looked to cap the return of the big names at the Scottish Open, a Rolex Series event, with a victory. But fellow Englishman Aaron Rai upset the odds to beat Fleetwood in a playoff that saw Tommy miss from a couple of feet at the first playoff hole. Both storylines demonstrate the importance of putting well when the pressure's on. So, if you struggle with holing out or three-putt too many times due to poor distance control, send us a message below and we'll be happy to help.
