Golf on Tour

DJ wins big

How does a $15 million payday sound to you? For playing golf?

Dustin Johnson finally achieved one of the few things missing from his CV on Monday evening when he stepped off the 18th green at East Lake GC. Sadly, there were no fans to cheer him on, but DJ won the TOUR Championship and, as a result, the season-long FedEx Cup - the PGA Tour's order of merit.

If ever there was a deserving winner, it’s a man who finished the season T2-1-2-1; a run that started at the PGA Championship. Seeing DJ back to his best makes for beautiful viewing. If you’d like to give your playing partners some better viewing on the course, why not book in for a lesson with a member of the team?

There's a new ball in town

As its name suggests, this ball is all about delivering maximum speed on full swing shots. What does that mean for your game? Longer carries and added distance without needing to hit the ball any harder.

Keep safe!

We took delivery of our new sanitising stations this week, what we had was great, however with this dreaded Covid gig looking like it's set to be here for a while to come to ensure the safety of our members and guests we've upgraded!

With a few days in the last week taking a little dip in temperature I'm on the case ensuring we cater for the not so warm weather!

Scheduled to fall on our doorstep soon are some wind and waterproof items, currently waiting on a stock update fingers crossed all will be fine as levels with some manufacturers have proven an issue this year!

Again my sincere thanks for everyone's support over the last few months, it's very much appreciated.

 

A little visitor!

Monday saw us have a little visit from Robin the red breast...

Having had our front door open every day since we returned on Friday 29th May I am surprised it's taken this long for a visit, my thanks to the members around at the time who assisted me in catching the little thing and setting it free!

You know winter ain't far away when you see a Robin!

The Wallace Thomson

Saturday past saw The Wallace Thomson take place, again another week of terrific scoring and a great entry seeing Hector Robertson card an exceptional 72 (6) 66 to hold off Kenny Haston on the better inward half, closely followed by Richie Brown.

Twos paid out a good return of £15.46, fingers crossed for a dry one for this weekend's Autumn Meeting.

This weeks stats are...

Slow play!

Unfortunately the dreaded slow play issue has risen its head again, please be aware of the golf around you when on course, slow play is never great and with many people already under un-wanted pressure the last thing we want to see is confrontation and unrest in the ranks!

Be courteous and keep up with the game in front.

Keep it tidy!

You may have noticed we have re-introduced our broken tee holders on the teeing areas and a bin at the pro shop and at hole nine.

We appreciate that bins are something we all take for granted, but please be courteous and place your rubbish and broken tees in the units provided, I have for weeks now spent most afternoons picking up rubbish around the club and leaving broken tees lying about really isn't in keeping with our traditions!

Wedges that work for you

Over the past few weeks, we've worked our way through the bag, from hybrids to irons and now to wedges. Each time we've been looking at what we want from each club and how it fits into our bag. So, how well do your wedges compliment the rest of your set?
