As many of you are aware, we have been running a Saturday Sweep since we returned from lockdown, with last week seeing our first attempt at something midweek. Keen to keep these going certainly until we get closer to normality, I intend to run these until such times the demand falls or they clash with the all-important club fixtures we hope to have back very soon. Yellow tees, full handicap, with the usual sweep and twos, play will be in groups of two or three until we get the green light for fourballs which hopefully isn't too far away.
As these events won't be official club competitions, the tee times are limited to the window of 8:00am-3:00pm as we do require all the scorecards to be returned to the shop, these will be non-counting and all winnings will be paid into the winners' accounts. Book your time, find some friends and make some birdies. |

Last week saw the Captain and some of our members guided by Willie, repair some of the damage done to our fairways over recent weeks.
With a bucket of sand and seed in hand, a fantastic shift saw divots at around 12 holes filled, a fantastic job well done from all who contributed and on behalf of the Willie and the Captain, I pass on their thanks.

Again, my thanks to all who entered our sweep at the weekend, 80 entrants on Saturday again saw some incredible scoring with 39 points scraping 6th place and a 2 returning you £17.75. This weekend will see our last one with competition golf scheduled to return on the 18th with our Spring Meeting. There will be a couple of extra prizes this week with some nearest the pin prizes so be sure to get entered before you head out to score some points!! As a gentle reminder, I would greatly appreciate all players being as neat as possible with the cards. Having three scores on a card can make them rather challenging to read, please clearly mark your names, the points scored and just in case I need to check your handicap. We are very limited to the information we can access here in the shop and I did have an issue with a few cards last weekend. Keep up the great work. |

The ladies have a fantastic little prize draw running and I'm sure they'd appreciate everyone's support. The starting place for many of our members here at the club, this is a fantastic opportunity to win a season ticket for the measly sum of £10. Get entered golfers! |

You will have no doubt read in the Captain's email last Friday that both the on course toilet and locker room toilets are now back in operation, we ask everyone to continue with the COVID guidlines and gently remind everyone that whilst you can access the club between the hours of 7.45am and 6:00pm, the locker room is still off limits. The clubhouse team continue to goal towards the 15th July all going well and we hope to have a short video again explaining what will be required of you the golfers. By the time you read this, the Match Committee should have met to discuss a revised fixture list, Saturday,18th July sees us kick off the season all be it a little later than planned with our Spring Meeting, an update on other fixtures I'm sure will follow. We have now opened the tee to visitor play as of Monday past, we are limiting availability to the hours of 11:00am - 3:00pm to ensure members get priority to tee times until such time we see a reduction in the demand. The Captain is fully aware that many of you are eagerly awaiting The Dumbarnie announcement, I can assure you he has it all in hand and will I'm sure be touching base with an update very soon, keen to maximise our tee times the hope is that we will, revert to fourballs very soon giving everyone a greater chance of success in the process to ballot the lucky golfers. |
Unfortunately, the dreaded slow play topic has risen its head again and whilst I'm very much of the thought that golf is not a game to be rushed, it's certainly not one that hampers the games behind. With every tee time for the last six weeks containing members with very few guests on this occasion, we are very limited on who we can blame. Could I please ask everyone to ensure that they are mindful of the golf around them? I appreciate we are all of different abilities, however, holding up the game behind not only frustrates everyone but also adds pressure to the culprits. Now back to three balls and fingers crossed soon to be fours, the sub-three-hour rounds are now a distant memory, so please keep alert. |

Changes pay off for Bryson Bryson DeChambeau’s beefed-up new look has had chins wagging since the restart of the PGA Tour. On Sunday, the added muscle mass delivered its first win. A seven-under final round brought his total to -23 for the week and gave ‘The Mad Scientist’ a three-stroke victory at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. The 26-year-old had decided it was time for a change at the back-end of 2019 and put his famed thinking cap (a Ben Hogan-style flat-cap) on to find a solution. The answer, he decided, was to gain muscle in order to drive further. After finishing T3-T6-T8 in the first three events, this week DeChambeau was finally able to sink the critical putts. His driving distance (now No. 1 on the PGA Tour) has proven effective, but this week went to show that you can’t win without good putting. If you're thinking of changing your approach to the game or want some help to take your game to the next level, we can help! Simply, call us on 01333 320051 or send us a message below. |
