We hope you managed to celebrate Easter weekend in some way, shape or form – especially, with an Easter Egg or two. This week’s newsletter is packed with some great features that we think you’ll enjoy. Our weekly quiz continues, there are more drills and challenges for you to try at home, as well as a brilliant video at the bottom of this email. To kick things off, we’re going to look at one of golf’s greatest rivalries! Enjoy the read.

Golf's greatest rivalries
|
Over the next few weeks, we’re going to discuss some of the game’s greatest rivalries but would love you to get involved too! So, let us know which rivalry stands out for you the most and why by getting in touch here. Nicklaus vs Palmer
A lot of you will remember this one and it’s for far more than the fact they were the two best players on tour for most of the 60s. It was trophies galore for both gentlemen, with nine Major titles between them from 1960 to 1964 and one of them winning the PGA Tour’s money list each year between 1962 and 1965. However, whilst Jack is recognised by many as the greatest of all time (let’s save the Tiger vs Jack debate for another time!), he didn’t have the love of the fans that Arnie had. If you read up on the pair’s rivalry, you’ll quickly find out that they were close friends too. From travelling together during their playing days to Nicklaus being by Palmer’s side when his wife sadly passed away, their friendship was a strong as their fierce rivalry on the course.

Many members will remember these tee markers we had on the course up until 2018. Pictured here is one that a member has sitting pride of place in their garden, plaque all polished and wood all beautifully stained. I think I may actually prefer them!! Where do you have yours, there's 54 out there somewhere!!!! Send me your pictures for next week.

| What a bunch!
| Sadly, last week saw the passing of a true gent and a massive supporter of our game. Doug Sanders, the 1970 Open Champion, sadly passed, however, some great memories have been left, least of all when he took time out of his schedule to visit us at Lundie back in 2010 when we held "The World Junior Open Championship".

As you're aware, I live along the coast a little in the quaint little fishing village of Anstruther, we are very fortunate to have a great little 9 hole course that really is a huge test of golf, it kills me every time I play it!! Back in 2007, hole-5 "The Rockies" was voted one of the hardest par 3's in golf. If you haven't played it I'd strongly recommend a trip along once we are back to normal! When out for my daily piece of exercise earlier in the week I thought I'd nip down and take a couple of snaps, safe to say don't go left!!!

Ron the Rally Driver There's not a great deal of people that don't know I have a passion for motorsport, If I'm not around the club, in the pro shop or on the course then I'm usually away playing cars!!! Fancying myself as a Colin McRae I've definitely gotten the ambition and ability bit mixed up, but we have great fun in my little works wide-bodied Ford Puma from the late 90's. Something a little different we've just finished an 8 round UK championship "The Motorsport News Tarmac Rally Championship" where we were crowned Class A Champions, seeing only one round in Scotland since November we've visited Oulton Park, Cadwell Park twice, Knockhill, Brands Hatch, Snetterton, Anglesey and Donington, who says the life of a golf pro is dull!! |
| Something a bit different!!

Keeper of the greens Willie and Stevie continue to keep the course in tip top shape, an image that wettens our appetite for play once the UK is through this terrible time, the weather has been exceptionally dry and with days of warmth the growth has definitely started!! On a personal note I'd just like to thank the guys for what they are doing, ensuring it'll be ready for us!! |

What a response to last week's quiz! Hopefully, you all enjoyed it and learnt a thing or two on the way. For this week, you'll need to match the golfer with their nickname. It starts relatively easy with a few that we think the majority of you will get, but there are certainly a few curveballs in there that you may have never heard of before! Click the link below to take part and, remember, have fun!
