Only A Week To Go

With now only a week until the big day we still have some terrific in-store offers, plenty of stocking fillers, plenty of great deals and as mentioned in a previous newsletter our Christmas gift vouchers should you be unable to decide.

Opening times

Festive Hours

Pro Shop – Open as normal (8am-3pm) with the exception of Christmas Day and New Years Day when we will be CLOSED.

Members may wish to note the following arrangements for opening the Clubhouse over the Festive Season:

Christmas Eve - Clubhouse closed from 3.00pm (Tues) (No catering after 2.00pm)

Christmas Day - Clubhouse and pro shop closed (Wed)

Boxing Day (Thurs) - Clubhouse will be open from 7.30am - Bar open from 11am–3pm (No Catering)

27th, 28th, 29th & 30th Dec - Normal Clubhouse & Bar hours - Please note No Dinners will be served on Sat 28th December

Hogmanay (Tues) - The Main Lounge & Dining Room will both be closed to prepare for the Hogmanay Dinner/Dance (No catering after 2.00 pm)

1st January (Wed) - Clubhouse and pro shop will be closed

2nd January (Thurs) - Clubhouse will be open from 7.30am - Bar open from 11am–3pm - Catering 11am–3pm (restricted menu)

3rd January onwards - Normal hours apply

Course news

Course Closed

As many are aware as advised in previous newsletters we now operate with a course closure sign each morning to ensure we allow the green staff enough time to assess the course to ensure we can offer both the members and the visitors the best golfing experience!

Of late there has been a little frost come in with the daylight, thus creating a possible delay in the start time but most importantly slip hazards!

On Sunday arriving at the course (7.50am) it was as expected dark yet I managed to make out a silhouette and the LCD screen of his power trolley heading up the 18th fairway on their way to the 9th!

Having spoken to a greenkeeper around the same time our discussion was that the course should remain closed until sunrise which was scheduled for around 8.20am however we already had a single golfer who had ignored the “COURSE CLOSED” sign!

This sign is not only for the green staff but also for the safety of the golfers and I’m saddened that a member has ignored the council's wishes! In the world we now live, health and safety is a huge part of everyday life and to ignore a sign that advises that the course is actually closed shows very little respect!

I appreciate like every golf club we have 850 people who know better than the main man but in this case I am a little disappointed!

To end my rant, not one member is bigger than our great club that has been here for 151 years!
