Club news

Charity Day

Last Friday saw the club host a charity day in aid of “Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland” and what weather they had!

With a 10.30am shotgun start, tropical weather and no wind the day was a roaring success, a considerable amount of money was raised all for a fantastic cause. With great prizes and even the use of a BMW for the weekend for the putting competition, there was plenty to play for!

A huge congratulations to everyone involved, headed up by Neil Harper and Pete and June Rodger. The company was great, the food fantastic as always and I even almost managed to hold my own with a “Beat The Pro” at the fifth where only three of the field managed to beat me!

A great day and hopefully one we may see again in the future.

Competition news

The Victory Cup

Saturday saw The Victory Cup take place which is our bogey competition, I’ve absolutely no idea how the scoring works, but I’m happy to report that there were seven players on a score of one with Gordon Blyth leading the pack!

Twos were pretty good, returning the eleven players £15.81 per two!

Course news

As good as it gets

The course, as always, is absolutely incredible and I am reliably informed there are no scheduled works to the greens until the end of October!

Feedback over recent months from both members and visitors has been incredible and really is a credit to the team out on the links producing such a fantastic product.

As I’ve said of late I have personally played a fair bit of golf over recent months and I’m confident to say that there is nowhere with greens as good as we have here at Lundie, we are very very spoiled!

New arrivals

There is some fantastic product for the autumn now in-store, this week saw the delivery of some ProQuip goodies with lined sweaters and snoods due over the coming weeks, woolly hats are aplenty and with the cooler weather not too far away be sure to swing by and pick up the essentials.

Stewart is off on tour for a few days next week where he is playing in a three-day Pro-Am over Nairn, Castle Stuart and Royal Dornoch. I’ll be sure to keep you updated as he tells me he’s hitting it good!

These jaws have some bite

Winter is coming

Have you ever noticed how much harder you need to hit your putts in the winter compared to summer? As surfaces begin to slow due to longer grass and wetter greens, the need for a little extra effort on your putting stroke becomes clear.

Should you change your putter?

As putts need to be hit harder to get the ball going the same distance as they do in the summer months, using a heavier putter certainly won’t do you any harm.

The thought here is that a heavier putter will do more of the work for you, allowing for a smooth and more controlled putting stroke.

Whilst still being relatively lightweight compared to some putters, Odyssey's EXO Stroke Lab Marxman putter is certainly an option we'd recommend you trying.
