The 150th R&A Anniversary Quaich
Saturday saw The 150th R&A Anniversary Quaich played on what, going by the forecast, should have been a wet day. But like most wet days here in God's country it stayed dry with only a very small shower early doors.
Well done to all those who played on a very calm and warm day. Scoring as always was top dollar with Steve Meiklejohn taking top spot with a 70 (3) 67 closely followed by Paul Baker, Stephen Graham and James Gay all carding 68’s.. Two’s returned a well-earned £20.57. Well done to the seven golfers who managed the number that escapes so many of us! |
The McDonald Trophy
Sunday then saw the annual playing of The McDonald Trophy, 18 holes stroke play over the original foot print of Leven and Lundie.
Unfortunately, we didn’t host the event this year which made for a long day, however, the golfers we spoke to were very complimentary of our course, especially the greens. I’ve not seen a results sheet yet, but as we only had around a dozen players in the field the odds of a Lundie winner would have been high. Here is vice-Captain Baxter pictured with key personnel from Leven Thistle and The LGS.

Pro's Day
This year's Pro's Day is now just a little over two weeks away and, to try and increase the numbers, we’ve decided to simplify the format this year. The event is scheduled for Saturday 17th August and this year's format will be a 3 man scramble, full handicap, with some different teeing positions and some challenging pins, but most importantly some incredible prizes, including nearest the pin at holes 5, 12 and 14 and nearest the pin at hole 18 in two.
We have fourballs, golf bags, golf shoes, balls, clothing and much, much more... The entry fee is £5 per golfer and having done our homework for what we are offering in prizes it’s a day not to miss. Plus, if the forecast looks good we might even see if we can arrange some refreshments for the 9th tee. The entry sheet will be open from Thursday afternoon, so to get your name down swing by the shop or give us a call for a great day full of fun on the course. |
