Welcome to your weekly newsletter, bringing you all the latest club news, why we have a 'course closure' sign, and remind you that: yes, all golfers can... Enjoy the read. |
Sublime scoring given the wind!
Saturday saw some blustery conditions as the day progressed, the early birds had it slightly easier for the first four, however, given the challenging conditions the scoring was sublime! This week's victor, with a tremendous score of 41 points off a handicap of +3, was James White, comfortably keeping second place Gary Wilson at arm’s length on 38, and a point further back was Bryan Hay on 37 with a host of golfers on 36. Twos paid a comfortable £10.54, giving a great return on the entry! |
Course closure! As most of you will now be aware we now operate with a 'Course Closed' sign on the first tee when we close the pro shop for the day. To remind those that haven’t read previous newsletters the reasoning behind this is to ensure no golfers play before daylight, allowing the green staff to make the correct decision on the course playability, enabling them to get far enough ahead of the first golfers! |
Yes, all golfers can...
I need to also draw your attention to the growing number of pitchmarks! It’s quite evident that we have a large amount of golfers not repairing their pitchmarks. Yes, sometimes it can be difficult to see them (especially in the dark) but it is paramount, to ensure we have greens as we are so used to here at Lundie, that everyone repairs not only their own, but possibly one other!
Over recent weeks here in the pro shop we are receiving regular feedback from golfers that there are copious amounts of fresh pitchmarks and whilst I appreciate many golfers believe themselves to be not of the required ability to make such things, but yes, ALL golfers can.
The last thing anyone wishes, especially me, is for Willie to take a green out of action! It may happen! |
Hogmanay
As I type I am advised there are only a selective amount of tickets now available, however, the celebrations have been opened to one member and three guests if required. So be sure to be quick and pop in to the office if you fancy snapping up the last few remaining tickets for what I’m sure will be a great night! |

Rule Changes... As most will be aware there will be some new rules implemented from January, so do you know what to look out for?
- ‘Dropping procedure’ do you know how to drop the ball when taking relief? - What penalty is given for a ‘double hit’ aka the Tommy Nakajima? - Looking for a potentially lost ball, do you know 'how long you’re allowed?' - What happens when you 'strike the pin' when putting on the green? Lots of interesting changes with the majority of these to try and eliminate slow play! I will watch with eager anticipation each Saturday to see if this works.

We all want to enjoy playing golf, and a big part of this is lowering our handicap. Yes, there will be times when your game isn't up to scratch and you go up .1 a few times in a row, but there'll also be times when all of the puzzle pieces fit and your handicap tumbles. |
What does your graph look like? As the year comes to an end, it's important to take stock and examine where you can improve your game going into the new year. There might be several areas that you want/need to work on, or maybe just two or three finer details that will take your game to the next level. |
Whatever those areas are, we're here to help. We can identify the key reasons you're not shooting the scores you want, as well as devise a personalised winter coaching plan to help iron out those faults and get you paying your best golf. So, if you want to see your handicap tumble in 2019, come down to the shop for a chat - you've got nothing to lose and everything to gain. |
