The 42nd East of Scotland Strokeplay Championship was played over the weekend, and with our course in absolutely terrific condition all was set for a most entertaining weekend.
With some of the UK's finest golfers competing, the calm conditions early on Saturday morning looked like the scoring would be low! With local members playing interest was good, members Whiteford, Meiklejohn, Anderson, Wishart, Miller and the Davidson brothers all tried their best to make the 72 holes but alas all was not to be with only Stewart Whiteford, Mark Anderson and Greg Wishart making the cut!
South African Rohwer shot a fantastic second round of 63 to be sitting in second place (pictured below) but with Chris Robb shooting four rounds in the sixties he was just untouchable!! Finishing on -18 Robb (pictured below) finished eight shots clear taking the title for 2014.
We were also lucky enough to have a Jason Duffner look-a-like join us for the tournament.
Leading on from several weeks ago our very generous captain brought us a little gift this weekend! Feel free if your passing the local bakery to spoil us!!! The only thing we don't like is mixed fruit!
We feel the shop is looking spot on right now with a large selection of clothing from many of the top manufacturers. There are still a few ranges to come in, and the brands will be with us in around four weeks. One new brand that will be stocked in our shop is
Wolsey - an old school manufacturer making a return with some fantastic pieces.
Please make a note in the diary for all you fashion victims out there!
Fraser is away playing this week so I'm hoping next weeks newsletter will be full of how great he did! Watch this space!
As the weeks fly in it won't be long until that time of the year again -
PRO'S DAY!This year's format will be similar to past events, with the usual tough pins and altered tees and as an add on we are going to try and make this day a
family day with the addition of a BBQ. Final details to follow but a definite date for the diary and one that'll keep the wife and kids happy as all will be welcome -
Saturday 16th August.
