Cox Trophy
Saturday saw a very challenging day down here on the links, incredibly strong winds from the start made the day very difficult, not to mention a CSS of 74 and reductions only, it's little wonder we had in the excess of thirty no returns! However, some found it playable and as usual we had some terrific scores even though the weather was tough!
Junior member Cameron Adamson came out victorious this week, 88 (18) for a nett 70 saw him hold off Alex Carruthers on countback, followed by a large group of players on 73 and 74. Two's were a rare beast so congratulations to Steven Paterson and Jim Wilson with the only two's in the field, netting them a superb lift of £86 each!
Next up is our Club Championship weekend on the 8th/9th July so be sure to get your names down and leave the diary empty for championship week!
East Of Scotland
As advised in last week's newsletter, this weekend sees the annual East Of Scotland Amateur Strokeplay, a simple reminder that the course will, I'm afraid, be closed; however feel free to pop down and see some of the country's best amateurs in full swing! There will be selected practice rounds on the evenings leading up to the event so if you see golfers utilizing the white tees don't panic! There is a sweepstake also available in club, heavily advertised as always so be sure to ask as there's some great prizes!
Seniors Clinic
Giving it another bash, Stewart will again be doing a seniors clinic on Tuesday 4th July, with a few names already down. Feel free to get in touch to fill the spaces, the clinic will commence at 2pm and at £5 per head it's an ideal opportunity to get some simple swing tips now we are in full swing with a terrific golf course just waiting for a score!
Pro's play
As I type, Stewart is away Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday playing in The Scottish Assistants at West Lothian, fingers crossed all will be good, although the forecast isn't looking too hot!
I myself will be heading to Craigielaw on Monday to play in The Lombard, unfortunately my original partner Jeff Swan is now unable to play due to a job change, however second place qualifier Keith Renton has stepped in and I'll be sure to update you on how we all faired next week.
Be quick or you'll miss it
As I've advised in previous weeks, we feel the shop is just right at present with a huge selection of goods in-store.
This week saw the arrival of the eagerly awaited new silk 1868 Club Ties!
A very limited production run not to be repeated, so be quick if you fancy one!
Whatever takes your fancy
With a massive range of footwear from FootJoy, Callaway, Puma and ECCO, swing by for a measure, with the windy days of late we also have a great selection of Wind Tops in-store!
Keep your eyes peeled for some great shirt promotions in the coming weeks, updates will be in our newsletter!
Attention all players looking at new clubs
With the practice facility here at the club being a little limited on length and on occasions a little sandy, we'd be delighted to arrange a custom fit at the St Andrews Callaway Fitting Centre should you be thinking about a club change, with no cost as a customer of the Pro Shop, it's a fantastic opportunity to be advised on what's right in the bag and what can be improved!
For further details please come and chat with Stewart or myself as we'd be delighted to arrange an appointment, it's a fantastic facility offering great advice!
Reciprocal Rounds
As you're aware, as part of your membership we do have in place some great reciprocal deals! Alistair asked me to remind you that, should you wish to play at Crail, Ladybank or Scotscraig, all within a 15 minute drive of Lundie, to simply contact the golf course that you wish to play's professional shop directly advising of your requirements, where I'm sure they'll be delighted to help.
