Saturday saw some very dry and mild weather again and with scoring conditions on point as usual the players didn't disappoint!

Jim Duff came out on top this week with 42 points closely followed by Scott Brady on 41 and Jamie Spittal on 40.

36 points managed a top twenty finish this week suffice to say the scoring is getting worse! With Christmas Eve and Old Year's Day falling on Saturdays this year, please be aware that the Eclectic (weather permitting) will still continue, book times as normal, so bring yourself down to play.




Course Closed

The first thing of note this week in connection with the course is the introduction of our new COURSE CLOSED sign!

I mentioned a few weeks ago that due to the very dark mornings and on occasions frost coming in with daylight, that to allow Willie and his team to make the correct decision not only for the course but the golfers, that a sign would be erected when the Pro Shop closes each afternoon and then removed the following morning when it was felt the conditions were suitable for play.

We appreciate that it's not always possible to keep everyone happy, especially golfers, but with such important issues such as your course and health and safety at risk,  it's a great new additional service we are providing during the months of December and January.

Willie's greens top dressing program is now complete until the New Year, to date we have already spread around eighty tonnes and, with the hope for a total drop of one hundred to one twenty, there's not much left to go!

The course continues to play well in this tropical weather we are having and the team will be out with the mowers this week to give the surfaces a little trim.


Fairway Mats

As you will all be aware we do get an exceptional amount of play over the winter period here at Lundie, over past winters we always place mats on the par three tees and hole seven however it was noted that our golf course team and certain golfers felt that these mats were on frosty days quite slippy!

With this in mind it was decided to place a bucket of fairway mats on each of the four tees mentioned to enable the golfers not only the chance of a solid stance but help protect our teeing areas where possible.

If we can ask all golfers to monitor the use of mats at these areas we would greatly appreciate it as it would seem that many players are not following the golf clubs requests. 

All visitors are advised of this requirement prior to play, please accept this note as a gentle reminder and our thanks in advance for your support.


  

Opening Times

The shop is open as normal with the exception of Christmas day and New Year's Day, both Fraser and myself are on site to assist with those last minute Christmas gifts and with some terrific deals in-store, it's a great opportunity to save a few pounds as we approach the big day!

As a heads up to all members the clubhouse will, as usual, be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day and with this in mind the locker room facility will be off limits, anyone wishing to have a few holes or require something from their locker please ensure you do so prior to the days listed.

On a personal note I'd like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year when they arrive, and thank you all for your continued support, it's hard to believe that on January the 1st I will be entering my 10th year here at Lundie and I can happily say I've loved every bit so far!
