Pros' Sweep
Thanks to those of you who played last Saturday, a last minute thought and, considering the short notice, numbers were good!
Well done to Raymond Philp for carding an impressive 75 (7) 68 to win on countback from John Wallace 74 (6). A super day and some more handicap reductions are always good when we near the season end!
Medal Finals
This Saturday sees the last counting medal of the season. With the entry due to close on Wednesday evening you must get your name down quick! Fraser will be on hand to look after you on Saturday as I have a meeting down south to attend, so good luck to you all!
Scottish Championship
Fraser is off to Gleneagles next week, I'll keep you updated on his progress, I'm sure you'll all join me in wishing him well.
Winter Hours
Club House and locker room access is currently now running phase one of the winter programme, access can be made from 6.30am to 6pm with the closing time due to change to 5pm in two weeks' time. Winter opening hours for the bar are now in place with Wednesday, Friday and Saturday being the late evenings.
Will We Hear The Roar Once More?
Tiger Woods announcing his withdrawal from the Safeway Open, 3 days after he officially confirmed he was playing, definitely seems a bit off. He has made a statement saying that his game is not ready for competitive golf just yet, but with 100% of what Tiger says to the public being run by, and approved by, best friend and agent Mark Steinberg, it is just as likely as not that what Tiger is saying is not the truth.
One reason that could hold more truth is that Tiger may have aggravated his back and is physically unable to play, the quick and unexpected withdrawal, in some ways, does make this seem more likely than the reason he gave. If he were to say he had aggravated his injury again then the Tiger comeback train would be completely derailed, including any sponsors that may have been looking to snap him up once he got going; you can't ever hope to play golf again if 3 back surgeries haven't helped you and talks of retirement would be rife.
I personally think Tiger is not injured, and is at least telling some of the truth; after his last disappointing comeback he won't return until he knows he can win, and if he doesn't have the game to win his first tournament back then there is no point him playing.
Don't believe me? Watch this interview with Tiger before his first tournament as a pro. |
