Last Thursday saw me head west to play in Friday's Darlinda's Charity Pro-Am at The East Renfrewshire Golf Club. I hit the ball great but putted like a horse, leaving me with a 76 and nowhere near the prizes. Moral of the story? Practice more. Dovetailing well, our team managed 69 in the format played to make the prizes. A nice pair of FootJoy DNA golf shoes for the team and a little cash for myself helped put a smile back on our faces. As usual, day turned into night and the high spots of Glasgow had the pleasure until the early hours with some of my fellow professionals, losing my host at 2am wasn't in the plan. Not to worry, Holiday Inn Express to the rescue, a 2:30am check in and six hours in bed saw my winnings disappear. A great day for a great cause and with the generosity of everyone involved, the day managed to raise a little over £15,000. Unbelievable.
Today (Wednesday) sees Fraser head to Musselburgh Golf Club to play in the GolfBreaks Fourball qualifier, partnering fellow professional Garry Forrester. I'll update you in next week's newsletter on how things went.
Thursday sees Dean Robertson and myself head to Crieff Golf Club for our Lombard Trophy qualifier, I'll update you all next week on our travels with the hope of some good news.
Saturday saw Stephen Robertson score an impressive 73 (6 handicap) to win on the better inward nine from Russell Weir. This weekend sees the Summer Meeting and the forecast looks to be dry and sunny. Good luck!
