Hello golfer,
In this week's Lundie newsletter we focus on thestart of the golfing season this weekend, lookat a historical moment at the club last weekend,as well as seeing what Willie and his team haveto deal with on the course - and it's not whatyou might expect. Enjoy the read.
Captain vs Vice-Captain
This weekend sees the start of our golf seasonhere on the links, with the AGM set for Fridayevening and our new Captain, Neil Ballingall, heading into office on Saturday. By the time youread this you'll only have a matter of minutesto get your name on the sheet. Be quick as it'spretty much already full as I write on Tuesdaymorning. With a scheduled 12:30pm shotgun, anyplayers on course prior to the event mustcontinue to use the fairway mats and leave nolater than 12pm.
Saturday saw the MemorialTrophy, a pre-season scramble, takeplace. A fantastic scratch score of 56 from S.Meiklejohn, D. Imrie, A. Sim and J. Smith with acombined 10% handicap of 0.5 winning by 1.9.Great effort from all involved with scoresranging up to 65.2.
Last Saturday saw a very historicalmoment happen here at Lundie. For thevery first time in Lundin's history, we had ourfirst female member play in one of the clubcompetitions as Jenna Downie (picturedbelow), daughter of Fraser, teed it up alongsideGeoff Thow and Gary Stein. Only 4.6 shots back, she contributed well and I'm sure we'll see herrepresent herself well as the season progresses.
MemberMarkHamilton sent in the photo above fromthe weekend, it would seem Willie has more todeal with than just rabbits out there.
With the recent dryer and, on occasions, warmerweather things are progressing well on thecourse. With only minimal projects stillscheduled and the removal of fairway mats at12:30pm on Saturday, it all looks great for theseason ahead. Willie and his team have workedtheir usual magic and I look forward to the carpet-likesurfaces we are so used to as thetemperatures lift.
