Four Club Challenge
With the season coming to a close the four club challenge was played on Saturday with an extremely good score from Andy Sim of a one-under-par 70, nett 69! This brilliant number was all in vain as he was to be pipped by Bruce Reid who shot 78, nett 69 on countback. Less clubs, less thinking!
This Saturday is the last Monthly Medal before the medal finals on Saturday, 17 October.
The importance of putting well
As some of you will have watched the FedexCup Tour Championship at the weekend, it's safe to say that Jordan Spieth putted his way to the $10 million prize with a season average of 88% hole out from inside 10 feet. Incredible! Next year will be an interesting year if Jason Day, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler pull off big performances with battles reminiscent of Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Seve Ballesteros and Gary Player.
Drill - Next time you are on the putting green, set out eight tee pegs around a hole in a circle with distances from three feet up to 10 feet aim to make all putts before playing. You could also increase the difficulty by having to hole all putts in a row, if you miss one you must start again. This is a great warm up drill before playing a medal round as it tests both direction and distance.
If you would like to improve your putting please get in touch here and get one of the team to take a look at your putting stroke. Alternatively if you would like more exercises to work on your putting please come and ask us in the pro shop.
