Tartan Tour
I'd firstly like to start this week's newsletter by informing you all and congratulating Fraser on his great finish in what was the last event of the season. With two great rounds at Royal Dornoch over the weekend, Fraser managed an absolutely fantastic finish in fifth position, in what was challenging conditions. Fraser's day one round of 73 followed by 71 gave him a massive boost to his golf going into the close season. With a borrowed shirt and tie for the presentation, I'm sure he'll fill you all in on his return. A massive congratulations! Click here to view the final leaderboard.
I'm off for my summer vacation 2014 on Saturday so I'll leave you in the capable hands of Fraser and let him loose with next week's newsletter!! Enjoy the four club competition at the weekend and I'll be thinking of you all when I'm lying by the pool!
St. Andrews Rotary
The juniors played in the annual St Andrews Rotary competition at the weekend and narrowly missed out! They finished in joint third place our congratulations go to our team comprising of Cameron Adamson, Jack Harper, Euan Donaldson and Ryan Brown.
Maintenance programme
Our maintenance programme is now in full swing, some short term pain as Willie and his team prepare the course for the winter and most importantly a great course for 2016. The work done on the putting green only ten days ago is heeling superbly and Willie is delighted with the results. Fingers crossed for some good weather over the next couple of weeks and we'll get ourselves back to some great winter surfaces as we approach eclectic time!!
We all here at the club appreciate that good greens is something we thrive for each year and in the ideal world would like them for longer however one thing to note is that for any works like we are currently carrying out to heel quickly the timings would ideally be suited for a July/August window!!
Not sure that would be an ideal window for Lundie however germination and repair would be a much smaller window and a faster repair!! Something to think about the next time you play!! Many courses now do an early maintenance programme however Willie as always is on the ball and I'm sure as always will endeavour to have the course in tip top condition!!
