Visit from a legend!
Sunday saw us have a very surreal day!! It started with a phone call at 8.30am asking if Mr Gary Player could possibly arrange a tee-time for around 10am and a request for the professional to have nine holes with him. This is something that just doesn't happen on a regular basis!!! With the great man arriving around 9.30am, he was a gentleman who took great enjoyment in speaking to as many members as he could before we set off for nine holes.
To use my regular phrase "it's not how far it's how often" was absolutely spot on!! I gave him 50 yards off the tee but every time he was closer in two than me, needless to say he pipped me to the post!!! A thoroughly incredible morning and one never to be forgotten, a special thanks to Steve Meiklejohn who was in the shop at the time for carrying my stix!! A true gentleman who only had compliments for the course and its condition, not your average Sunday morning at work and thanks to all the members playing that day that allowed us to skip down 15!
Club Championship 2015
Last week saw the Club Championship matchplay rounds take place and with numerous close games over the week. The competitors for the final - to be held on Sunday, 23 August - are now in place. Congratulations to both
Stewart Whiteford and
Greg Wishart who will contest for the big prize next month! Good luck, gentlemen!
Open Week With this year's event only up the road we are experiencing a slightly greater amount of traffic than normal on the course!! Fraser, Alistair and I would like to thank you all for your patience during this busy time! Things get back to some form of normality next Tuesday, I hope you all enjoy what looks like is going to be a great event.
Henderson Medal Last Saturday saw
Darrell Keith pip Graham Brown to the winning spot after countback with a nett 67. Some great scoring in the medal however we did have three 'no shows' all of whom had pre-11am tee-times. Please be aware there is now a penalty system in place and these morning times are prime, no excuses!
