As we are now well and truly into the wintery mornings and low light afternoons, I'm sure you will all appreciate that at this time of year tee times at the weekends are prime times for those members who unfortunately don't have the luxury of midweek golf due to work commitments!

Over the last few weeks we have been experiencing some NO SHOWS on Sunday mornings and a queue of balls in the ball shoot on a Saturday pre-9am. At this time of year, when the tee sheet is full, those members not turning up are resulting in other members not being able to play and golfers placing balls in the shoot when their playing partners are not present only creates problems.

Taking last Sunday alone as an example, we had members who had booked tee times between 9am and 10am show up at 08.30am and play prior to their allocated time leaving me with slots I was unable to fill at short notice to those who wished to play but could not. I had one cancelation ten minutes prior to a specific tee time and two groups who never even showed up!

Whilst we all appreciate that situations do arise last minute resulting in some golfers being unable to play, there are regular offenders creating situations when others are unable to get their weekly fix! The booking system is run seven days a week to help the run of play and allow members and visitors to plan their day but, as mentioned above, we have in recent weeks been experiencing some issues that I would like to ask you all to help us with here at the first tee.

Booking a tee time for 9am and arriving to play at 08.30am just in case you are unable to get out is not in the spirit of the game. It would be very unusual for you to be unable to play should you wish an early time and we ask you all to please look seriously at how you, the member, utilize and manage your tee times.

Online booking has been available to members for around eight months now and this is accessed on the club website - www.lundingolfclub.co.uk - where you can register using your four digit swipe card number and the first four digits of your date of birth. Once registered you can book, alter and cancel your own booking generating spaces for others to play should you have a last minute change of plans when the facilities here at the club are closed.

We, here in the Pro Shop, are the golfers first port of call and we endeavour to keep everyone happy which can, on occasions, prove challenging but we ask you all to group together and help us sharpen up the tee sheet to ensure you all are able to obtain a time and have an enjoyable round! As we approach December, as intimated in one of my previous newsletters, we do have a cut-off date for Christmas delivery of any club crested sweaters. To ensure delivery anyone requiring a specific colour and size must place the order by Monday, 1st December. We do have these items in store but to avoid disappointment pop by and check.
