At £12 it's a bargain! As Leslie Crowther would say "COME ON DOWN"!
Friday saw our Presentation Dinner take place and with guest speaker Jim McArthur on the ball there were a few of us that were given a hard time! I, unfortunately, was one of his pickings and taking in the spirit I believe everyone should, I think we all had a great evening. Ian and Jan did a terrific job with the food as usual, Lorraine and all the girls kept us watered whilst Alistair and Stewart kept the prizes flowing!
Above are a few snaps of the evening for those of you who didn't manage to attend and if you did win a trophy but couldn't get down to pick it up, please pop into the office the next time your down. Juniors Stewart Philp, Dean Robertson and Steven Paterson did themselves proud lifting many trophies between them and it was a breath of fresh air seeing the lads there on the night to collect their prizes.
Pictured are our Club Champions: Cameron Mitchell, Mike Marshal, Gordon Palmer and Stuart Philp along with all the medal winners who took time out of their busy schedules to attend.
On Monday of this week a fellow PGA Professional popped down and did a little demo fly over of the course. I'd think you'll all agree that for early November the course is in terrific order and a credit to Willie and his team.
If you have seven minutes spare, grab yourself a cuppa and sit down with the volume on and watch this sample video of the course (click on the image to view).
Fingers crossed he'll be back in the early spring to take a full tour in bloom!
The Midlands Alliance is now well in swing and last week it was my turn to head up to The Fairmont for the annual Pro-Am event. A nice triple bogey at sixteen saw me finish in second place, one shot shy on +3. Unfortunately, as reigning champions from 2013 it's safe to say we never gelled as well as we should have!
The course was in great condition with lightning fast greens and a credit to our vice-captain Neil Ballingall and his team. Neil, for those of you who don't know him, is The Golf Course Superintendent at Fairmont.
New winter stock in store
With Christmas now only just over a month away why not pop in and see some of our new winter products. We have hats from various companies, fleece lined trousers from Dwyers, new waterproofs from Sunderland, under garments from OJ and Sunderland to mention only a few. Crested sweaters from Glenmuir and Glenbrae are due this week and as I mentioned in last week's newsletter, be quick to avoid disappointment!
