Welcome to this week's newsletter.
There's only one place to start and that's with a look back at our Championship Week.
Enjoy this week's read. |
Our champions are crowned!
Last week saw our championships take place and with a week of incredible weather the golf certainly didn't disappoint! With tough games right through the week, Sunday saw a terrific finals day with Andrew Davidson crowned our 2018 Gold Medal Champion; in our Feathery, Gordon Thomson held off Jim Bruce for yet another victory; Graham Brown kept Bill Buchanan at arms-length; and, with what at times looked to be a long driving competition, Jack Lockhart pipped Connor Dewar to the winners spot in the Junior Championship. Stewart Whiteford past champion of 2016 gave a sterling effort and received The Horn Trophy for finishing runner up in it what was a great Gold Medal Finale! |
Seniors Open Championship Qualifying
Monday of next week sees the eagerly anticipated qualifying for The Seniors Open Championship which is being held over The Old Course the week after The Open at Carnoustie. With 150 competitors due to dawn the turf the course will be closed Saturday and Sunday for practice rounds as well as Monday for the event and possibly Tuesday should the weather turn! Players from around the globe we expect the scoring to be low and with possibly 6 to 8 qualifying spaces being available, all is to play for! We'd like to encourage as many spectators as possible, so if you have a free window swing by and watch golf how it should be played! The course remains firm and fiery and with no rain forecast, a little breeze should sort the men out from the boys!

David and Gary take the honours!
Saturday past saw again great scoring with David Green coming out victorious with 69 (1) 68 keeping Kevin Borthwick, Rab Lindsay and David Jack at bay all who scored 69s in Division 1. Meanwhile, in Division 2, Gary Watson comfortably claimed victory with a fantastic 76 (14) 62 to win easily by eight from Dale Wallace, Andy Graham and Matthew Coleman all who finished on 70. Two's, I'm afraid, were worth a simple £6.06 this week; you can blame Geoff Thow for that who carded an ace at hole 12 bagging him £91, which is half the pot! Well done to all competitors and we look forward to welcoming you all back in around 10 days when we get back to some sort of normality!

If you haven’t used a push trolley for a while then it’s definitely worth trying one in the not too distant future. In years gone by they were made of metal and were heavy to use, but that couldn’t be further from the truth with today’s lightweight options. |
Nice and easy This BIG MAX IQ+ 360 push trolley is a great option and tips the scales at just 6.3kg, which makes it effortlessly easy to push so you remain full of energy to the end of your round. As well as its lightweight frame, it boasts a 360-degree front wheel so you can steer it to any spot with ease (watch our video to see for yourself), plus a handbrake and a spacious console that has room for all of your valuables and accessories. If the white frame in this photo isn't to your liking, the IQ+ 360 is also available in black as well as black and red. |
