Welcome to this week's newsletter bringing you all the latest goings-on from the club, including a look ahead to the 150th shotgun this Saturday - plus the draw - as well as course and club updates.
Enjoy the read. |
150th Shotgun As most will be aware this Saturday (5th) sees the first of our 150th celebratory events with our double shotgun scramble, for those who are playing in these events we ask that all golfers must register in the clubhouse prior to heading to their relative tee. All those playing in the morning shotgun are requested to register from 8am for a 9am shotgun and all those playing in the afternoon are asked to register from 12.30 for a 1.30pm start. Coffee and biscuits will be available prior to play and a buffet along with presentation will take place after each event. I have enclosed the draws for your perusal and we wish you the very best of luck on what going by the forecast is going to be a terrific day both on and off the course!

Practice round
As I’m sure your all aware there has been a considerable investment in the practice facility since the turn of the year. I appreciate there are a few haters of the artificial turf, however, on a personal note it is a very good and playable surface. You will also note that the matting area is compulsory and that no play is permitted from the grass as per the signage. Yet this week we find people have been hitting from areas they should not have!
This facility is for members and fee paying guests only and whist it can be difficult to man at certain times of the day, could I please ask you all to keep any eye on it as you pass and ensure everyone is adhering to the council’s request?

Course update...
Preferred lies are now finished so please ensure you keep it on the short stuff! The course is firming up very nicely and is playing very links like, fingers crossed the warmer weather isn’t far away. However, I’m sure you’ll agree that all our guys out there are doing a sterling job.
We hope to have our new pin position system implemented over the coming weeks and an exact update on how this will work will follow in due course.

Visitor play...
Not something thankfully that raises its head too often, however we had three visitors play on Sunday morning before the shop was open. Whilst we appreciate that on occasions the first tee can be quiet, can I just ask you all to read up on visitor windows in your diaries: No visitor play until after 11.30 on Sundays. On completion of their round, thankfully, they did pop into the shop to pay, however they had been told by members that morning that it wasn’t a problem to play then pay when they were finished!
Whilst this is a very generous offer potentially these golfers may have just driven away or, when they did come to pay and be advised of the fees, refuse to do so due to the cost! Lundie prides itself on being very much a members’ facility and whilst we do have good visitor traffic the times allocated for visitors are there to ensure you, the member, has ample opportunity to play in good time, having a three ball of visitors out when they shouldn’t be only adds to slow play and a potential loss of revenue!
I’d personally love visitors every day all day but as Alan Rough says “rules are rules.” |
Spring Meeting
The Saturday past saw the Spring Meeting played and with the weather again on our side although a little cool when the sun disappeared, but the scoring was again very good! Leading the pack and winning with a 78 (11) 67 was Glyn Richards closely followed by Steve Grist 83 (14) 69 and Matthew Miller 69 (0) 69. Not too many twos this week and, with a £25.33 return on your entry, it was happy days all round!

Lombard Trophy
Saturday was also the qualifier for The Lombard Trophy and I can announce the lucky recipient of a day in my company is Steve Grist who finished well to secure his space! Steve and I will be heading to Blairgowrie towards the end of June and I’ll keep you all updated on our progress in a future newsletter. Many thanks to all who took part, the added pressure of knowing you had the possibility of playing with myself I’m sure made it tough! |
