Autumn Meeting
We had a very autumnal start to Saturday with a cool breeze and overcast skies. However the day soon warmed up and the scoring was fairly hot too. Robert Russell took victory with a fabulous 83 (- 17) for a nett 66, closely followed by Fraser Green and Tommy Brown on 67. Plenty of reductions in handicap for many other players, so all in all a good day at the office!
Charity Day
This Saturday sees the club's annual Charity Day take place; an event where all the entry fees are donated to a chosen charity - on this occasion the Air Ambulance, something we have had the pleasure of using in my time here! Numbers are around half the normal medal entry so be sure to get your name down before Wednesday night's draw.
To try and encourage play and raise the volume of monies taken, the captain and his council have asked all golfers who are playing on Saturday, but not competing, to pay £5 per golfer to the pro shop prior to play. All of this extra money will go towards the charity - a great cause which I hope we don't need to use any time soon!
This week, starting Wednesday, sees some shop specials and limited offers on FootJoy clothing and Puma footwear:
All Puma footwear will have 25% OFF
All FootJoy clothing 20% OFF
As listed above, this will be a limited offer so be quick to grab a bargain.
New safety fence
Many of you who have played golf over the last week will have seen the new fence erected at the base of the first tee. This fencing (as seen below) is to protect the dreaded hitch hikers and dog walkers from the golfers with slightly wayward tee shots!
Should you be unfortunate enough to chop it short and left from tee one, not only will this protect all parties concerned but re-confirm that you require 30 minutes on the range with Fraser or myself! You know where we are.
