Thanks from the shop
Over the last couple of months, Fraser has been fortunate enough to fill that last-minute cancellation slot and occasionally play in our Saturday Medals, I think about three or four to date. At the outset when I suggested this I mentioned to the membership, via my newsletter, that we would fully appreciate should anyone have any issues with us partaking in these comps. With no resistance we have tried, where possible, to fill that last-minute space on a Friday afternoon to ensue/help the smoother running in threes and allow us still to have the pro shop fully operational.
Alas, it would seem that there are a few members who have not directly spoken to myself and voiced their feelings that they felt we shouldn't be playing as we quite rightly are taking a member's space. Fraser has thoroughly enjoyed the few rounds he has played and we do hope that the members that have had the pleasure of his company enjoyed the experience, albeit sometimes ropey! With the usual last-minute cancellations and approximately five two-balls last weekend alone, it's a great shame that I've had to make the decision to no longer fill these spaces. I thank you all for allowing us to partake but as it says in the cartoons: "that's all folks".
August Medal
Saturday saw the August Medal won by Gary Wilson with an excellent 73 (4) to win on countback from John Paisley and Alan Bauld. Having played with Gary last week at Kingsbarns, I must admit I was shocked! I believe "Pin Ball" is the terminology that could have been used.
A few right, a few left and a few posts keeping his ball in play
Wee Gordy continues his great run of form with yet another 73, reducing his handicap again to 2.8. Our Titleist promotion was received well and with only two players managing to beat their handicap, a huge congratulations go to two of the young team in Danny Stalker and Stewart Philp. This weekend sees the Cox Trophy, the forecast is good so we expect low scoring.
With virtually a full sheet, be quick if you fancy a knock in my Pro's Day. A great day, a bit of fun and some brilliant prizes.
This Friday sees me head to Haggs Castle with the captain for the Pro/Captain Challenge. Having been unable to play for a few years, Friday will see a return to tournament golf. Not having played a great deal this season and with the captain never off the course, I'm relying on him to produce the goods. An update on our day out will be in next week's newsletter.
Yes, Autumn/Winter is getting close! With the arrival of some Galvin Green products this week, we are getting close to that woolly hat and winter mits time again. Where has the summer gone? We have some ranges that will filter into stock over the next four to six weeks so be sure to pop in for a browse. We regularly have in-store promotions, this week sees 20% OFF Oscar Jacobson!
