Winter Eclectic
Saturday saw some horrific weather with cold winds, sleet and a little snow - conditions were just awful! However, yet again Pete Rodger came out on top with an incredible 38 points closely followed by Phil Curley on 36 and Stewart Philp on 34, all names we're now getting familiar with as we approach the last few weeks! A great turnout considering the weather and with only three left, things are getting tight at the top.
Coastal Erosion
Some of you may recall the sterling work we did last Winter to the coastal erosion alongside hole one and with the high tides, strong winds and high rainfall our storm barriers have stood up strong. I nipped down for a little look on Friday and can comfortably report that the barriers are holding fast! With virtually no debris on the course side of the barriers with fully intact supports, the money has been well spent and will hopefully keep our coastline and golf course safe from the sea for many years to come.
Safety Measures
For those of you that have been curious to what Willie and his team have been doing in front of the first tee over the last few weeks, I can confirm it's all to keep you, the golfer, safe! As you may or may not be aware, we had an unfortunate situation that arose last season where a walker was hit by a golf ball from the first tee. In the art of ensuring we see the dreaded dog walkers, Willie and his guys have created a path in to the hill of the first hole.
Once grown in, as a matter of course we will direct traffic towards this path in turn ensuring their heads pop up a little earlier to allow safe crossing of the 1st and 18th fairways. Whilst I hear you all say it's a golf course and they shouldn't be there, I'm afraid it's a nature of the beast! We have tried now for years to educate the walkers but to no avail.
Golf Club Quiz
Our ever popular quiz is back by popular demand so be sure to reserve your space at the bar as it's filling up fast and numbers will be limited. This will take place on Friday, 4 March starting at 7pm. Entry fee is £15 per team, to include a buffet supper (max 4 per team). A great night at a great venue with some terrible questions!
